Back in Dubai I had one workshop that knew my Audi A7 well, a 2018 model with about 91,000 km, and they always explained things in a way I understood. Now I have to start from zero, and honestly that stresses me more than the move itself. The car has been mostly fine, but in the last few weeks it sometimes takes a moment to react when I press the pedal after stopping at a light, and I would like it checked before the long drive. My friend Taimur, who lived in Abu Dhabi for years, says to ask around in local owner groups and not to trust the first place that shows up on a map. My brother says I am overthinking and any decent garage can handle it. How do you judge a new workshop when you do not know anybody? Do you visit first and look at how they treat the car, or do you call and ask a few questions? What would you ask, and what answers would make you walk away? Is it normal to ask if they have worked on your exact model before and whether they use the correct fluid and parts? I would also like to know if you keep your old service records and bring them along, because mine are partly with the dealer and partly with the old workshop, and I wonder if that confuses things. If you moved cities and had to find a new place for your German car, how did you do it, and are you happy with your choice today?
